Recipe: Slow cooker soup

If you are a soup-lover like I am and don't have the luxury of time to cook off the strove. I suggest you invest in a slow cooker! It's magic!

Personally I have 2 slow cookers in my kitchen.

This is the one that I use to cook my porridge.

Hmm.. I can't find the exact brand that I use for making soup, but it's close to this.

So what's a slow cooker? Ripped off from Wikipedia:
slow cooker, is a countertopelectrical cooking appliance that is used for simmering, which requires maintaining a relatively low temperature compared to other cooking methods for many hours, allowing unattended cooking of pot roaststewssoups"boiled" dinners and other suitable.

Yups yups, I love how I can just dump all my ingredients into the slow cooker and hours later I can enjoy a hearty soup. This is magic.

Sweet corn, carrot and pork soup.

Ingredients:
-2 sweet corns cut into 3 segments
- 1 bag of carrots cut into blocks
- pork ribs/chicken chop into pieces
- handful of red dates
- handful of dried raddish

ALL INGREDIENTS ARE THESE SIMPLE, YES.

Methods:
1. Bring a pot of water with half a teaspoon of salt to boil. Then throw (ok don't throw) in the pork/chicken into the water to boil for a minute (this step is to kill the bacteria/germ)
2. Put all the ingredients into the slow cooker and fill up with warm water (you may want to boil a kettle of water beforehand)
3. Off the switch and let it cook for at least 4hours.
4. Serve after 4hours of slow cooking.

NO SALT NEEDED. HEALTHY OR WHAT?

Oh, by the way all the recipes that I'm sharing usually don't involve salt and I use really very little amount of oil in my cooking too. I believe in cooking a healthy and balanced meal for my family. :)

Bone marrow soup

This is another soup that I use slow cooker to make too. Bone marrow is full of nutritious if you are not aware. Do a quick google and you'll know! It's the same method as above but with different ingredients ( I use tofu, bone marrow, dried radish and red dates). So you see my soups are never boring because I like to play around with ingredients and doing some match and mix.

Pumpkin eight treasure congee

So other than soup, congee is also another favorite food that I like to make using slow cooker. Basically slow cooker save me so much time! I can just dump everything in and let it cook itself while I do my work. So here's the secret to how I juggle between studies and cooking. Hah.

Although, I hope you'll have fun with slow cookers too! Drop me a comment if you need anymore help ya? Have fun cooking yo!
