Review: Cafe & Bar Gavroche

It has been a while since I last did a cafe hopping. Yes, I don't deny I'm a cafe girl. :D

This time around it was hopping at Tanjong Pagar area with My dear Qiao.

First stop of the day.

Cafe & Bar Gavroche.

Named after the street urchin in Les Misérables musical, Café Gavroche is an offshoot of Brasserie Gavroche by Frederic Colin, former executive chef of St Regis Singapore.

With Café Gavroche, he wants diners to sit back, relax, and enjoy the food and drinks with the company of good friends.

The café is split into three different settings - the bar, the sidewalk, and the kitchen, all under one roof. The bar is perfect for those going solo, the sidewalk is conducive for small groups, while the kitchen is ideal for bigger groups.

English breakfast tea, $7.

Latte with caramel syrup, $7.

Croque Monsieur, $16.

Oven baked ham & emmental cheese and sandwich, bechamel sauce.

We felt that this was totally overpriced and lacks surprise element. 'I remembered making this for breakfast when I was younger.' said Qiao.

Egg Tartine Onion, $16.

French style open-face country bread with scrambled eggs and onion marmalade.

We asked the waitress for her recommendation and she suggest this to us. Definitely much prefer this to the other entry.

Really love the effort made in the decoration and this is exactly why I love cafes. I'll pay for ambience. ^^
