Recipe: Korean oven-roasted pork belly *step-by-step*

Alright continuing from 'Korean-inspired dinner', here is the step-by-step guide to roasting pork belly using a simple conventional oven.

Oven roasted Korean pork belly (recipe adapted from here).

Ingredients:
1 strip of pork belly (I sliced into half)
2 tbsp Korean soy bean paste (duenjang)
1 tbsp honey
1/2 tsp of black pepper
1 tsp vegetable oil

Step 1: Wash cleanly a strip of pork belly (mine is sliced into half), pat dry. Using a kitchen knife, create a few diagonal slits on the surface of the skin.

Step 2: In a mixing bowl, combine Korean soy bean paste, honey and pepper. Marinate the pork belly with the combined sauce. Let it sit for at least an hour.

Step 3: Preheat the oven to 220 degree Celsius. Place the well marinated pork belly on the oven rack. Drizzle a little oil on the surface to create a even more crispy skin.

Step 4: Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes before reducing the temperature to 180 degree Celsius and continue baking for 20-30 minutes depending on the thickness of your pork belly.

Step 5: Let the pork belly cool a little before slicing and plate.

Dinner is served! :)

This roasted pork belly was really well received by the family (was quickly wiped out!). It was all crispy on the outer and so soft and juicy on the inner! Definitely a recipe to be kept by me, as I can easily create another flavours of roasted pork belly using it! Dad and my brother gonna so love me. Haha!

I also made a simple kimchi jjigae which you can refer to here for recipe.

Last but not least, checkout my step-by-step guide to kimbap making if you have missed it! :)

Love,
