Recipe: Singapore style brunch - Kaya toast and half boiled eggs


Brunch menu for a change because I think I have introduced too many 'ang moh' brunch recipes for the moment. :P

Made this Singaporean's type of brunch because Mr Tan requested. 

He loves his kaya butter toast and soft boiled eggs anytime! He has an old man's tastebud eh?

 LOL! kidding kidding! :P



Kaya toasts - Ingredients:
Bread of choice (I like gardenia's bread loaves)
butter
kaya

Method:
1. Toast your bread in a toaster.
2. Cut the bread into two equal pieces and spread a layer of kaya on it. Slide a thin piece of cold butter and sandwich it between 2 toasts. Let the warmness of the bread slowly melt your cold butter and we are good to go!

. The taste of kaya and melting butter in your mouth is seriously.. SHIOK!

Half-boiled eggs - Ingredients:
2 eggs at room temperature
water
Soy sauce
Black pepper 

Method:
1. Boil a kettle of water and pour into a small pan. 
2. Gently lower the eggs into the boiling water. Place the lid on and let the eggs sit for 6 minutes before removing the eggs and allow them to rest for 30 seconds, until cool enough to handle. 
3. Use a teaspoon to gently tap in the middle of the eggs and crack open over a prepared bowl.  
4. Season with soy sauce and black pepper when served.

My favourite part is definitely to soak my entire toast with the egg yolk. This is the simplest kind of happiness for me. <3


Peanut butter sandwich and topped with pork floss. Copying a famous breakfast chain. :P
