Review: O-an Japanese Restaurant

Right tuck in the basement of Hong Leong Building, O-an Japanese Restaurant serves authentic Japanese cuisine, especially fresh seafood from Hokkaido. They offers a wide range of set menu, a la carte, value course, buffet, bento set and etc.

It was a quiet night for the both of us as the office crowd has cleared. I'm really digging the design of the restaurant too! It gives a very classy and elegant feel. Well, except that their chairs are quite run-down. :P

We were actually here for their 10-course dinner. But.. Silly us ate 6 Fancy Delight's tarts on the car, which were supposed to be reserved for dessert. Hahaha! So we literally came to dinner with a stomach of egg tarts.

8/10 of our dinner.

Have to say that we were quite glad that we came on a full stomach. Well, the food was.. BAD. I hardly give negative reviews to any restaurant, but this was really bad.

Perhaps the only dish I found acceptable. Read, acceptable.

The California hand-roll was literally inedible. I actually wondered how is it possible to screw a hand-roll like this? Applauses to the 'chef'.

Perhaps the 3 other edible dishes out of 10. Sigh..

Despite the bad food experience, we still had an enjoyable night together. Definitely because of the company and also the nice ambience and the good service. I guess we did make ourselves at home. Heh.

I'm not so sure if it's just our luck or the overall food standard is bad, because other customers seem to be enjoying their food. With a history dated back to the 90s, the food can't be that bad right? Maybe some brave souls out there would like to visit the restaurant and let me know about your reviews? :D
