Recipe: Matcha Brownie + Matcha-related baking ideas

There is just something so beautiful and magical about matcha (green tea) which got me so crazy over it! A little bitter on the first taste, then the sweetness starts to develop later. I can't tell me entirely the power of matcha, but you if you are a fan, you will know. :')

So here's a quick and easy matcha brownie recipe going out to all matcha lovers! <3

150g white chocolate
100g butter
2 eggs
70g sugar
80g of flour
1 + 1/2 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
chopped nuts (walnuts and almonds for me)
10g  Matcha powder
 1. Preheat oven to 180ÂșC. Line a 18cm x 18cm square pan.
2. Melt the chocolate and butter over a water bath.
3. In a medium bowl, beat the eggs and sugar.
4. Combine flour, baking powder, matcha powder and salt. Add into the egg batter and mix well.
5. Add the melted butter + chocolate, mix well.
6. Stir in the chopped nuts.
7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Shake gently and bake in the preheated oven for 25minutes or when the skewer comes out clean when inserted.
8. Let it cool completely.

Now here is a baking idea with this matcha brownie! An edible Christmas tree? :D

Just slice the brownie into triangular shape. You can even cut the edges to make it more tree-like if you wish!

Tree - matcha brownie
tree truck - Christmas candle
Rainbow beans and icing to decorate.

It isn't too late to make this for Christmas now! ^^

Another idea, hotplate matcha brownie with ice cream!

This was inspired from one of the cafe in Hong Kong, Sinmei Tea (you can google about them! ^^)

I don't have a hotplate at home, so I literally make a normal plate hot over the stove. LOL!

Just heat up a piece of matcha brownie with some matcha sauce (I melted some matcha ice cream to make this! :D)

Added some mashmarrow too and topped with a scoop of ice cream and we are ready to serve!

Oh wait! Doesn't hurt to have more matcha sauce! :D

Tadah~ a very nice afternoon treat for yourself and your love ones. :)

  4. Hi lirong, do you remember what is the texture of the brownies? Is it cakey and dry or fudgey and chewy? Thank you so much!

    1. Hi!

so sorry I didn't notice your comment. :/

Anyway, it's more of moist and fudgey. :)

  5. Hello Lirong, I baked this twice and it came out cakey and dry. Is it meant to be that way?

    1. Hi,

what do you mean by cakey? Anyway, the texture should be like your normal chocolate brownie. Maybe just a little more dry, but that depends on the quality and amount of matcha powder you use. :)

  7. Vitamin B1, C, and caffeine in green tea can promote gastric secretion and help digestion and fat elimination. The catechins in green tea have the effects of anti-oxidation, increase metabolism, and scavenge free radicals. It can activate protein kinase and triglyceride lipase through many actions to reduce the accumulation of fat cells, thus achieving weight loss. Therefore, drinking green tea often can achieve the effect of accelerating fat consumption and strengthening healthy weight loss.
