Recently, mummy and I had a great dinner at White Rose Café @ York Hotel. We came here specially for the 7 specially crafted dishes by Executive Chef Charlie Tham!
These dishes were inspired from his travels to the provinces of Fuzhou, Guilin and Kunming in China where the locals shared with him their invaluable experience in preparing cuisine from farm fresh local produce and freshwater catch from the river! ^^
I'll say the 7 dishes from 'Rediscover Provincial Cuisines of China with Chef Charlie' tasted like home! Come try them as these dishes will be available from now till 31st July 2016 only!

Spicy Tangy Octopus - inspired from Fuzhou.
Glad that the octopus was fresh and tender! It was a very good start to our meal because of the slight tangy taste.
Pork Belly in Spicy Sour Sauce - inspired from Kunming.
Sliced pork belly was served with pomelo tossed with spicy sour sauce. I'm a huge fan of this combination!
Escargot with Orange - inspired from Guilin.
I thought it looks a bit western influenced?
Nonetheless it's a dish that I wouldn't mind an extra serving of rice to go with. ^^
Oyster Biscuit Patty - inspired from Fuzhou.
Think big and succulent oysters breaded in biscuit patty. A must try for oyster lovers!

Wrapped Fish in Beer Sauce - inspired from Guilin.
This dish celebrates the sweet flesh of the dory fish wrapped in spinach leaves. How interesting eh?
Again, another dish that could do with just a bowl of rice served along.
Mummy said this was her favourite of all! That really says a lot. ^^.
Spicy BBQ Fish in Banana Leaf - inspired from Kunming.
Cooked over fire, bite into the tilapia fish and savour the fragrance of the banana leaf cooked with fresh herbs. I especially enjoy the freshness of the fish and how well the spices and herbs went together.
Fish Noodles with Seafood - inspired from Fuzhou.
Handmade fish paste noodles served with fresh fish, oysters, clams, mussels, prawns and crab.
The seafood soup broth was so good!!

I'll say it's a table of comfort food that daddy, mummy and even our grandparents would enjoy! Probably even bring back some fond memories they had when they were still in China? :)
