Recipe: Savory Floss Sponge Cake

I think everyone should be very familiar with Breadtalk's floss bread? I was craving for some the other day and since I have floss in my fridge why not bake some by myself?

Instead of bread, I baked a simple sponge cake because I was too lazy to make the bread dough. LOL!

Ingredients:
3 egg yolks
20g sugar
B
3 egg whites
50g sugar
1/4 tsp cream of tartar
C
30g oil
D
90g plain flour
1/2tsp baking powder
pinch of salt

Method:
1. Whisk A until the sugar dissolves
2. Gradually add in C and mix well
3. Fold in D (sifted) and mix well
4. In another bowl, whisk B until stiff peak form (about 10 mins at high speed)
5. Divide the egg whites into 3 portions and gently into the batter (step 3)
6. Pour the batter into a greased or lined 6" round tin
7. Give the in a few slight knocks on the tabletop to remove air bubbles
8. Bake in a preheated oven at 170 deg C for 30 mins or when the skewer comes out clean
9. Remove from oven and let it cool before unmoulding
10. Cut the cake horizontally into 2 layers
11. Sandwich mayonnaise between cake layers
12. Spread a thin layer of honey on the cake top
13. Spread some floss to cover the entire cake top
14. Chill before serving

A perfect match of savory and sweet. Enjoy!:)
