After being hosted a wonderful dinner at RamenPlay previously, I was delighted to be re-invited for their new a la carte menu that would be launching on coming 6 March 2014, exclusively at Breadtalk IHQ.
The really rustic setting at Breadtalk IHQ outlet, an independent building showcasing the Group’s flagship Food & Beverage brands, BreadTalk, Toast Box, Din Tai Fung, Food Republic and RamenPlay.
So what is RamenPlay's new menu about?
RamenPlay has extended it's menu with five hearty and affordable donburi (rice bowl) which will be available daily for lunch and dinner at $12.80!
The value-for-money donburi sets use premium Koshihikari rice from Niigata prefecture which is considered to produce the highest quality rice in Japan and is known for its distinctive flavour and sticky texture.
Enough of the talking, let the food justify for themselves. :D
Tori Momo Don Set.
Served with Agedashi Tofu and miso soup.
The set features a sunny-yellow topping of steamed egg and chicken flavoured with special Shoyu sauce atop a bed of Koshihikari rice.
Something simple yet so satisfying.
I love how the runny steamed egg matches so well with the stickiness of the Koshihikari rice. Perfect. <3

Teriyaki Chicken Don Set.
A classic dish comprising pieces of supremely tender chicken thigh that are pan-fried and seasoned with the all-time favourite Teriyaki sauce.
It was only the second dish of the night but our hearts were all stolen by this teriyaki chicken don set. We just felt that everything was put together at the right amount. You have to try this for yourself!
Cha Shu Don Set.
Presents a meaty topping of teriyaki marinated diced pork loin over an inviting mound of top-grade Koshihikari rice and crowned with a slow-cooked onsen egg.
Unlike the previous sets, this cha shu don set is served with a complementary miso soup and mini salad. The extra crunch from the salad comes from the unique red Tosaka seaweed known for its vibrant colour and nutritious benefits.
Mix well to enjoy succulent meat in every mouthful!
Honestly this cha shu don set and the coming up pork yakiniku don set were the twosome that I was most looking forward to! Simply being, I LOVE OOZING EGGS. That fact that the egg oozed on top of my favourite Koshihikari rice and teriyaki sauce is already making my legs go wobbly. <3
Pork Yakiniku Don Set.
Tuck into a steaming bowl of glorious rice layered with thinly-sliced grilled pork glazed with RamenPlay’s special sauce.
Can I just steal RamenPlay's special sauce already?! T.T

Pork/Chicken Katsu Curry Don Set.
Of course, no Japanese menu is complete without its sought-after curry katsu dishes. Customers have a choice of pork loin or chicken thigh for their meal.
Love how the meat was so perfectly fried without giving a single hint of greasy after feel. The curry however I felt lack the punch. I guess, I'm just too much of a spice person as the rest felt the flavour was just right.
So that was all the five hearty and affordable donburi, $12.80 each which will be coming your way this 6th March! Excited yet?! :D
Besides the new menu, our stomachs were also well-pampered with some of RamenPlay's all-time-favourite.
Sanpou Tonkotsu Ramen, $16.80.
Springy noodles steeped in RamenPlay’s traditional rich pork bone-based broth and piled with three different braised pork cuts for maximum decadence – pork jowl, pork belly in special sauce, and pork belly in Japanese Cha Shu sauce.
This house special is a must-try!
Butariki Ishinabe, $13.80.
Served in a heated stone pot rice bowl to ensure that it is best enjoyed at the optimum temperature, this signature dish boasts both pan-fried and barbecued pork, spring onions, seaweed, raw egg and a drizzle of RamenPlay’s addictive secret sauce.
Be prepared to be blown away by the burst of flavours!
Oh, Tip101: serve hot definitely! So snap first and dig in!
Yaki Gyoza, $3.60 for 3pcs/ $5.80 for 5pcs.
Plumped with pork fillings encased in a thin wanton skin that have been skilfully pan-fried to be crisp on the outside yet tantalisingly moist within. No doubt one of the best gyoza I've tried.
Crispy Dango, $3.60 for 3pcs.
Juicy chicken meatballs deep-fried then slathered with a winning combination of mayonnaise and plum sauce. I had a try of this during my previous visit and couldn't forget the taste since then!
Yuzi tea, a refreshing drink to wash down all the yummy food.
Of course no meal is completed with some dessert.
Chilled Shiratama Zenzai, $4.80.
A comforting combination of chewy glutinous rice balls complemented with chunky Azuki bean paste. This rendition is served chilled and a light drizzle of Kuromitsu sauce (brown sugar syrup) is added for an aromatic boost.
One spoon is definitely not enough for this delicious treat. Thus, I reached out for not just 2 or 3 more, but the reminding all. :P
Warabi Matcha Mochi Ice Cream, $4.80.
A standout bittersweet dessert comprising three elements such as the classic Vanilla ice cream, sweetened azuki beans and chewy matcha mochi cubes which are served warm upon ordering.
Another major love for this dessert. Azuki beans and matcha mochi, how can I resist?!
Thank you RamenPlay once again for the great night.
Anyways, Homecooks will be delighted to know that you can also purchase a bag of the premium rice pearls, Koshihikari rice, at all RamenPlay outlets! Purchase a bag of 2kg rice at $16.80* (U.P $28) and enjoy a 40% saving of $11.20.
*Prices stated are not inclusive of GST.
Ending with a OOTD with the boy.
Alright, 6th March at Breadtalk IHQ for the new Donburi sets ya? *mark on calendar*
