Although cafes in Singapore seem to have a high turnover rate, some still remains strong, and one of them is this pretty place, Windowsill Pies.
About 3 years old, Windowsill Pies has surely gathered its own group of fans despite the competitive cafe businesses out there! Mind you that around the area there are at least 10 different cafes at walking distances.
This was about 9.30pm on a weeknight, look at the crowd! We had to wait a while before we could even get a seat.
As the name suggests, Windowsill Pies specialises in pies, the sweet kinds, ONLY.
I had a hard time choosing! Wish I could stomach in everything! :P
In the end the boy and I got 2 pies to share (read it online that these 2 are the best pies in store!).
Grasshopper, $7.50.
The Grasshopper Pie was inspired by a classic cocktail and those addictive after-eights. It has a yummy chocolate flourless cake base topped with a crazy fresh mint cream. Crowning it are shards of dark chocolate and clusters of salty chocolate cookies.
The more I dig in. the more I want!
Strawberry Lemon. $7.
Tangy and refreshing, this tart is perfect for one who isn't entirely fond of sweet, sweet desserts.
I think we kind of chose the right combination of pies to go together. The tangy strawberry lemon helps to balance the sweetness from the chocolatey grasshopper!
But what I really love is the crust of the pies. Typically the pies that I had always have these common problems, crust is too thick/thin or too sloggy/hard. However, the pie crust at Windowsill Pies was so lovely created!
I love the fantasy outlook of the cafe as well. So lovely and fairytale like. ^^
Oh yes, it is almost a must for everyone to pose a photo with the brown bear in the middle, it is almost the mascot of Windowsill Pies!
