Malaysia, Genting, Dec 2016, Day 1

Hello, everyone~

I've just returned from a short family getaway to Malaysia (Genting and Kuala Lumpur). Decided to blog about it because I feel that I've benefited from all the travel blogs that I've read so I want to contribute as well? Haha!

Anyway, I realised that most travellers will choose to take a bus from Singapore to Genting (which is a freaking long ride), I chose to do away from it. We took a morning flight to KL International Airport then we took Aerobus up to Genting! Save time and much more comfy, I feel. ^^

We took Jetstar by the way and they were having a promo then! Yay! :D

For more information on how to get to Resorts World Genting refer to here!

Review: Patissez Singapore @ Holland Village, The Mother of all freak shakes!

I'm pretty sure you probably have seen a number of Over-The-Top-Milkshake somewhere? But I'm also pretty sure you wouldn't know where did it originate from? Or who created that hype! :D

Patissez is the original freak shakes creator from Canberra, Australia!

They deem themselves as 'home of the freak shakes'. I'm sure they are.

Back then they created a 3 hrs long wait just to get sugar high from these milkshakes!

Now, they are here to stay! With Singapore being their first overseas venture! :D

Review: White Rose Café @ York Hotel - Rediscover Provincial Cuisines of China with Chef Charlie

Recently, mummy and I had a great dinner at White Rose Café @ York Hotel. We came here specially for the 7 specially crafted dishes by Executive Chef Charlie Tham!

These dishes were inspired from his travels to the provinces of Fuzhou, Guilin and Kunming in China where the locals shared with him their invaluable experience in preparing cuisine from farm fresh local produce and freshwater catch from the river! ^^

I'll say the 7 dishes from 'Rediscover Provincial Cuisines of China with Chef Charlie' tasted like home! Come try them as these dishes will be available from now till 31st July 2016 only!

Review: Hello Kitty Orchid Garden, Singapore's 1st Hello Kitty Café @ Changi Airport T3

Not a big fan of Hello Kitty, but I was still excited to visit the cafe. Ultimately, it's something to be excited right?Hello Kitty Cafe in Singapore! Hahaha!

I think our local food scene is definitely getting more and more interesting with many renown food & beverages coming onshore. Good news for foodies out there! ^^

Anyway, I have been to 2 Hello Kitty Cafes so far (Korean and Bangkok). I'll say this is by far my favourite.
Not because I was invited here! But because I think it's not too hello kitty-ish?
Hahaha!

Sorry, I'm not a big fan of this kitty here.:P

Review: Honolulu Cafe @ The Centrepoint, Orchard

Yes,  the famous Honolulu Cafe from Hong Kong is here at The Centrepoint now!!! Thank god the space not as cramped and packed like the one in Hong Kong!

On a separate note, 2016 seem to be the year when more Food & Beverages from other countries are making their way onto our shore?

Definitely not a bad news for consumers. :D

Review: Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory @ Chinatown Point

I think Chir Chir needs no introduction? I've mentioned about them here  (OMG! Exactly, a year ago when I blogged about them! LOL!). Anyway, if you have no idea what I'm talking about, take a walk at 313 Somerset's B3 during dinner time. That long queue will lead you to Chir Chir. :)

Anyway, being a fan of Chir Chir's fried chicken, I'm all excited to know what the Korean franchise has came up in their new menu!

 Honey Butter Chicken ($28.90)
This new creation is inspired by the latest honey Butter craze in Korea. Love the slightly sweet coating on the deboned chicken, potato wedges and pan fried toppoki!

Those pan fried topokki were so addictive!

Review: Captain K Seafood Tower @ Prinsep Street

Captain K Seafood Tower, this 9-tiers seafood tower is bringing hotpot/steamboat to a whole new level!  Mr Tan and I were invited by this newly opened restaurant for a dinner. :)

Captain K here implies Korean, it's a concept that is being brought over from the K world, adding to the multitude of Korean inspired food choices in Singapore. While seafood tower obviously suggests that you're in for a seafood feast! ^^
Think 9 layers of steamed shells. Seafood fans, are you excited yet? :D

Review: Hungry Heroes @ Tessensohn Road

Having the impulse to write about this cafe because I've just caught Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice!

Have you? :D

Shall not say anything about the movie just in case I spoil it for anyone. :P
But I bet there are more than enough spoilers on the net. Haha!

Anyway, Hungry Heroes located at Little India, is a 2 storey high cafe filled with all the superheroes displays and things!

Review: Eat at Seven @ Suntec City *CNY specials*

Frequent customers of Suntec City would have realised or even been to Eat at Seven, located at Suntec City's sky garden!

Admittedly, I think Suntec City is getting a bit too complicated for me. Hahaha! I lost my way all the time.. T.T

Ok, back to topic, of the many new food concepts at Suntec City, Eat at Seven is one that I will really recommend.

Why?

The name itself says all!

Eat at Seven will house 7 different dining concepts from Japan! They are not just any Japanese restaurants, they are one of the best in the country. Currently, only 4 of the tenants have started operations, but I heard that the remaining 3 are opening very soon as well!

While we wait for the final 3 to arrive in Singapore, we shall get our mouths busy with the current 4 first. :D

Review: Peony Jade's Monkey Magic CNY Menu 2016

Yes, time to welcome the year of the Monkey!

The other night, Mr Tan and I attended the media launch for Peony Jade's CNY festive menu. This is our second year here, a lot of new and familiar faces at the table. Definitely felt like it was somewhat a reunion dinner with the media friends! Haha!

Anyway, reunion family always starts with a Lo Hei!

This is Peony Jade's spectacular “Instant Enormous Windfall, Good Health and Longevity” - Monkey-shaped Yu Sheng 猴(厚)瑞添财,连年步步高捞生, $388.88.

This brilliantly  hand-crafted Lo Hei is prepared with many premium seafood like lobster, abalone, clam, tuna and salmon! You can even find edible 18k gold leaves in it!

Review: Fu Lin Men Dou Lao 福临门豆捞 @ 16 North Canal Road

Had a dinner tasting the other night at Fu Lin Men Dou Lao 福临门豆捞, founded by orthopaedic specialist and senior researcher, Professor Zhang Ming, from the coastal province of Zhe Jiang which is blessed with a fresh and wide variety of seafood!

Interestingly, when Prof Zhang visited Singapore, he struggled to find a healthy soup close to his liking!  Thus, he decided to build a gimmick-free Dou Lao hot pot brand based on traditional broths in Singapore.

So lucky us~ We get to enjoy a good Dou Lao in Singapore now! :)

Oh! In case you are curious about the meaning of 'Dou Lao 豆捞'.

Review: Pho Street @ Bedok Mall

Vietnamese food for a dinner tasting the other night with Mr Tan! ^^

We probably haven't had Vietnamese food for a long long time~ Haha! I remembered sometime back, Vietnamese Pho was relatively new, so we tried like almost all the different brands in the market? :P

To be honest, we really miss a good bowl of pho. So we were keen to try the new menu at Pho Street after we got to know that they have changed a new head chef. :)

Review: 20F Speciality Coffeehouse @ Foch Road

One of the latest player in Singapore's competitive cafe scene, 20F Speciality Coffeehouse.

Though new, it has made a name for itself for their unique combination of sweet and savoury, duck & waffle!

If you follow any cafe-loving Instagrammer, your feed would probably be filled with lots of their duck & waffle shots! This is exactly the reason that brought me here.

Since, I'm far away from London for the real deal, Duck & Waffle Restaurant, at least I have a Singapore version that is closer to me? :D

Review: Christmas Log Cakes 2015

Yes, it is time of the year again!

Christmas

One of my favourite festive. Or rather, a hot favourite of many? :)

Anyway, what's Christmas without a feast? And Christmas is not the same without the usual log cake, turkey and etc on the table! Well, that's how I feel. :)

My family is no Christian, but we love Christmas still! We celebrate it more like to end 2016 on a good note. :)

So here's a list of some Christmas Log Cake that I've tried! Thank you to all the different brands and companies for sending me so many goodies! <3

Review: Griddy Gourmet Waffles @ Westgate + GIVEAWAY

The other night, Mr Tan and I literally had a journey to the west for a dinner invite by Griddy @ Westgate!

Haha!

I've been wanting to try Griddy everytime I walk passed the place. Well, I'm always game for exotic food, so savoury waffles is something I will like to try! :D

But.. I was kind of deter by the size of the waffles? (picture above) Like it looks very massive and.. sinful!

Hahaha!

But I'm glad that we have tired because it tasted nothing like what I thought it would be!

ps: A GIVEAWAY at the end of the post! ^^

Reviews: Le Bistrot du Sommelier @ Armenian Street // Oxwell & Co @ Ann Siang Road

If I were to write a post on my Favourite 10 best meals in 2015, the 2 restaurants that I'm introducing in this post will definitely be in the list.

First up is Le Bistrot du Sommerlier (more on my dayre!). An authentic French restaurant located at Armenian Street (near Fort Canning).

Le Bistrot has been around for about 7 years? So they have actually made a name within the French community and beyond! I said so because when I was there for a dinner tasting, the ground floor (main dining area) was packed! When we were there on a Wednesday night!

So we had the dinner at the second floor, the bar area.
Much quieter and also nicer to talk and chill. In the end, we were glad that we chose to dine here instead of squeezing at the main dining area! ^^

Mr Tan and I probably love the place and food too much that we sat and enjoyed ourselves till almost 11 when we left! Hahaha! That's like almost 5 good hours there. ^^

Review: Purple Sage's Christmas Festive Menu

The other night, Mr Tan and I had a great dinner at Sky Garden, Sentosa, hosted by Purple Sage! :)

The place is so beautiful right!!! *insert heart shape eyes*

Mr Tan immediately planned to have our ROM solemnisation here.

But hello. You have not proposed yo~

Hahaha! :P

Anyway, we were invited by Purple Sage to try their 'A Taste of Christmas' menu for this festive! :)

Review: Joyden Treasures @ Kallang Leisure Park

Mr Tan and I went for a dinner invitation at Joyden's newest dining concept at Kallang Leisure Park (Singapore Sports Hub). It's call Joyden Treasures, also the 3rd baby under Joyden Concepts.

Previously, Mr Tan and I have been to Joyden Canton Kitchen and we love the food there! Naturally, the anticipation and expectation for this newest venture was also higher as well. :D

By the way, this new restaurant at Kallang Leisure Park (not Kallang Wave Mall!) is also  the biggest among the 3! There are like 6 VIP rooms available for reservation!
