Review: Koh Grill and Sushi Bar

After seeing tons of the Shiok Maki from Koh Grill, I finally had my chopsticks on it a few nights back.

I highly recommend that you make a reservation before coming and at least 2 days in advance please. We called for reservation the day before but it was fully booked so I had to walk in because shiok maki is too good for a miss. Guess what? The queue was super duper long when we reached before 630pm! But thank god the queue moves quick fast so we had a table after about 30mins of waiting. Oh and there was still a long queue when we left after 8pm. So reservation yo!

It's a habit of mine to take a photo of the menu.

Presenting to you the legendary 1st generation SHIOK MAKI!

If you're wondering what a shiok maki is, it's basically unagi and avocado wrapped in a seaweed roll, covered with a thick slice of salmon, drizzled with a generous amount of  mayonnaise sauce and topped with flying fish roe. I don't believe if you're not salivating.

Egg century maki.

Ordered this out of curiosity, egg century and maki? Interesting combination isn't it? However we agreed that there weren't much of egg century in this.

Japanese way of Hotplate Tofu.

This was a pleasant surprise. All thanks to the delicious sauce.

Soft shell crab was a meh for me.

Salmon sushi.
One of our favourites of the night. For $3 you get 5 super thick pieces, it's a steal.

Char siu ramen.

The ramen was sub-standard. The soup really CMI, but thumbs up to the noodles, really springy.

Overall I guess it's really worth the wait for the legendary shiok maki. But once is enough, there are many other amazing food awaiting for me to visit! :D
