Review: Standing Sushi Bar @ 8 Queen Street

Located at Singapore Art Museum, Standing Sushi Bar has set its foot in Singapore's  Japanese cuisine very well! Be sure to make a reservation before you come, otherwise you'll be standing in the queue before you stand at the sushi bar! Hah.

Standing Sushi Bar has pretty good dinner promotions:

Monday - $3 salmon sashimi, $2 sake, $5 beer, wine, hot sake, and umeshu

Tuesday - 50% off nigiri sushi, sashimi, and alcohol (housepour glass)

Wednesday - 50% off rolls, handrolls, and alcohol (housepour glass)

Thursday - $3 salmon sashimi, $2 sake, $5 beer, wine, hot sake, and umeshu

In my opinion, Monday and Thursday are the best days to visit if you're a fan of salmon sashimi! Unfortunately I visited on a Tuesday. :(

But oh wells, at least sashimi was 50% off. So I got 2 portions. :D

Sashimi was really good and fresh. However, it could be better if served thicker cuts. Foror the price, I'm not going to complain. :P

We ordered 3 different type of rolls to share All Salmon, All the Time ($16), The Prawn King ($18.90) and Rockstar Roll ($16.90).

The All Salmon, All the Time kinda reminds me o The Sushi Bar's Salmon Aburi Roll, however the latter is definitely better. The salmon sashimi layer could be thicker I feel and the sauce, it's just not there yet. :/

Rockstar Roll, another speciality roll at Standing Sushi Bar, but it wasn't of anything special, let say being a 'rockstar'.

The Prawn King, after the disappointment from the other 2 rolls, finally I tried one that is worth being mention as a 'speciality'. The prawn to rice and avocado proportion was just right and with the generous amount of mayo spread on top, finally one that appealed to us! :D

Sashimi Bento Set.

I think this was $28? Totally not worth price. :/

Would rather spend the money on another plate of sashimi.

We also had an unagi bento set as well as a tonkatsu bento set. Sadly, both were not worth mentioning. :/

Overall, although Standing Sushi Bar covers a wide range of items on their menu, however they were not really impressive. Perhaps I'll come back on Monday or Thursday for their attractive dinner special, other than that, maybe not another visit from me. :|
